The Rays beat the A’s 3-2 on Sunday, winning their rematch with perfect-game pitching Dallas Braden and splitting their series with the A’s to remain one game behind the first-place Yankees in the AL East.

Matt Garza pitched very well, working into the eighth while allowing only four hits and one run (that scored on a balk), for his 13th wins and Evan Longoria had the big hit, a two-run double in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.

The Rays led 3-1 in the ninth and closer Rafael Soriano got two quick outs before Landon Powell singled and ex-Ray Gabe Gross doubled to make it 3-2, but Soriano struck out Cliff Pennington for the final out, and his 37th save.
