Executive VP Andrew Friedman officially ended the speculation about any potential move to the Astros by declining to even interview with them.
Friedman was considered very unlikely to leave the Rays for his hometown Astros, who received permission last week to talk with him about a top job. Several media reports out of Houston labeled Friedman their top candidate.
Monday night, Rays president Matt Silverman released a statement that said: "Andrew chose not to be a part of the Astros’ process. It is in no way a reflection on the Houston organization.”
