Fantasy Baseball News:Kevin Kouzmanoff Traded to Oakland
Article Summary:
Last season, Kouzmanoff
Article Content:
The Oakland Athletics needed a third baseman. On Friday, the A’s were able to fill that void by trading for Kevin Kouzmanoff. In the deal, the A’s sent Aaron Cunningham and Scott Hairston to the San Diego Padres for Kouzmanoff and a minor leaguer.
Last season, Kouzmanoff hit .255 with 18 homers, 88 RBIs and 50 runs. The 28-year-old has 62 homers and 257 RBIs in 456 career games with the Padres and the Cleveland Indians. He’ll be plugged in at third base for the A’s and should have a firm grip on that job. Even if he doesn’t hit too well, he’s good enough defensively to be an asset.
Hairston, who has played previously for the Padres, returns to San Diego after a season in which he hit .265 with 17 homers, 64 RBIs and 50 runs. Cunningham is a 23-year-old from Alaska who hit just .151 in 23 games with Oakland last season.
In San Diego, the Padres will replace Kouzmanoff at third base with Chase Headley — who played in left field last season.
