Fantasy Baseball News:Johnny Damon Finally Finds a Home
Article Summary:
Article Content:
After helping the New York Yankees win another World Series title, Johnny Damon wanted a lucrative multi-year deal to stay in New York. The Yankees decided that the 36-year-old wasn’t worth his asking price and moved on. Unfortunately for Damon, the free agent market wasn’t very friendly.
On Saturday, Damon finally found an acceptable deal — with the Detroit Tigers. According to reports, Damon will be paid million over one season. As it turns out, Damon didn’t get anywhere close to a lucrative, multi-year deal.
Last year, the Yankees’ starting left fielder hit .282 with 24 homers, 82 RBIs and 107 runs. He also had 36 doubles and 12 stolen bases. In the postseason, Damon played well — especially in the World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies.
With the Tigers, Damon will likely be the team’s leadoff hitter and an everyday starter in the outfield. His veteran presence and savvy play should help the Tigers try to make an unexpected run to the postseason.
