“That’s why I hit fourth. My team is expecting me to get big hits in those type of situations,” he remarked.
As for the Twins, manager Ron Gardenhire walked Rodriguez in an attempt to get a double play. Considering that A-Rod has been relatively quiet to begin the season, it wasn’t a horrible move. However, it did have a horrible result this time around.
Rodriguez is currently hitting .281 with four homers and 26 RBIs. The homer moved him to seventh place on the all-time home run list, passing Frank Robinson. It was his 19th career grand slam, the third most in history.
With the win, the Yankees are now 23-12 and in second place in the AL East. The 22-13 Twins are in first place in the AL Central.
