In baseball, the biggest rivalry is no doubt between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox. On Sunday, the Red Sox beat the Yankees in the first baseball game of the 2010 season.
Early on, the Yankees looked like they were going to send Red Sox fans home sad. But after the reigning World Series champions got out to a 5-1 lead, Boston came back to tie it 5-5. The Yankees scored two runs in the top of the seventh, however Dustin Pedroia tied it with a two-run homer in the bottom of the inning. Kevin Youkilis then scored on a passed ball and the Red Sox would never trail again as they rolled to a 9-7 victory.
Both big name starting pitchers have seen better days. CC Sabathia gave up five earned runs in 5.1 innings, while Josh Beckett gave up five earned runs in 4.2 innings.
There are 13 games on Monday around Major League Baseball. The Red Sox and Yankees next play on Tuesday when AJ Burnett faces Jon Lester.
Dustin Pedroia was a hero for the Boston Red Sox
